AT the third meeting of the proposed new Rotary club in the Thurrock area it was announced by Janice Hills (Proposed President) that ‘Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland’ has approved the name of the proposed new club.
It will be known as “The Rotary Club of Thurrock Gateway”.
At last nights (Monday) meeting of around twenty prospective members and after the initial business networking time, the topic of local & international charity support was discussed in light of the BBC news items the same day in connection with Rotary Internationals campaign success in Eradicating Polio in India this year.
A spokesperson said: “The new club will no doubt support this campaign going forward to Eradicate Polio Worldwide.
“Also discussed were social events such as Ten Pin Bowling, Race Night and Quiz Nights to start the fund-raising initiative.
“It is hoped the new club will achieve ‘Provisional Status’ within a month and when 25 members enrol ‘Full’ club status will be achieved.”
