The People’s Pledge take to the streets of Tilbury

THE PEOPLE’S Pledge took to the streets of Tilbury earlier this week as the momentum gathers towards their polling day on Thursday April 5th.

YT caught up with the former editor of Tribune Mark Seddon as he campaigned to find out what type of reception the campaign was getting.

The Thurrock constituency is the location for the first local referendum held by the People’s Pledge as it starts its One: Ten: Hundred Campaign, the largest ground campaign for an EU referendum ever held in this country. Thurrock will be followed by ten more constituencies this autumn, and a further 100 in 2013.

The campaign will be full by-election style activity including the following elements:
· High visibility local shop front headquarters;
· Door-to-door canvassing;
· Posters and other external media;
· Several leaflet drops;
· Street stalls;
· Public meetings and other events.

Polls will close at 5pm on Thursday 5 April 2012.

To ensure full independence, Electoral Reform Services Ltd will administer the referendum by full postal ballot. The ballot question will be:

“Voters should be given a national referendum on whether the UK remains a member of the European Union. Agree/disagree?”
