ST Luke’s Hospice is holding a series of cafe-style events across the locality to invite people to discuss their views and wishes with regards to choices and planning for care at the end of their life. For many talking about these issues is still a taboo subject.
St. Luke’s staff have worked with the national Dying Matters campaign to encourage people to overcome their fears and get the community talking! If people do not say what they want – treatment, place of care and death, and funeral arrangements – they will not get what they want.
In order to remain in control and ensure services can support your individual wishes, it is vital to plan well ahead – just like you would do for the birth of a child, through all the important moments in your life, including retirement.
