Leanne Crickmar (23), Lionel Oxley House, Grays, has been issued with a five-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order after pleading guilty to breaching a Noise Abatement Notice.
On Wednesday (March 21st) Basildon Magistrates heard that Thurrock Council Environmental Protection Officers had seized television sets, a DVD and CD player and speakers in December 2011 after the notice was breached a number of times.
The Noise Abatement Notice was served in July 2011 following many complaints by neighbours about disturbances caused by loud music from Crickmar’s flat. After a number of breaches the seizure was made.
Thurrock Council Head of Public Protection, Lucy Magill said: “Noise nuisance can cause huge suffering to the people who have to deal with it. It is Anti-Social Behaviour which greatly affects people’s lives.
“We will continue to deal with cases like this and take the necessary action to stop it happening.”
In court Crickmar was given a conditional discharge but ordered to pay £272 costs. The court also made it clear that any breach of the ASBO could lead to a custodial sentence.
Complaints about noise nuisance should be made to 01375 652955 and Out of Hours currently to 01375 372468 which runs Friday and Saturday nights (and Sundays for Bank Holiday weekend) from 9pm to 3am.
