Hit and run driver wanted after smashing into pensioners in Stanford

POLICE are appealing for information after a driver crashed into a car and drove off without exchanging details in Thurrock this morning.

At 8am this morning (Saturday, April 7) a dark grey Ford Fusion, being driven by a 64 year old woman from Basildon, was travelling along Abbotts Drive, Stanford le Hope when a car pulled out of Plaistow Close and collided with the front near side of the car.

The woman’s 87-year-old mother, who lives locally, was in the passenger seat and received minor leg injuries in the collision. The other driver reversed and then drove off towards Corringham. Neither woman required medical treatment but were shaken by the incident.

The other car is believed to be a dark coloured, new shape Ford Focus that was being driven by a white man, aged between late 20s to 30s and there was also a passenger in the car, believed to be male. This car will have damage to the front off side and police need the public’s help in locating this car and the driver.

Pc Alistair Sims said: “It was very fortunate that neither the driver, nor her 87 year old mother were seriously injured but how callous of the other driver to drive off without even checking that they were not hurt. I would appeal to anyone who sees a car fitting the description with new damage to the front, or anyone with any other information to contact me on 101 at Corringham.”
