Bill Robinson reports from Ship Lane….
Thurrock pulled off another win at Home only their second of the season in what was a less than exciting game, but when your looking at relegation a win is three valuable points.
Boreham Wood started the brighter and looked dangerous in the first forty five minutes and on 17 minutes should have taken the lead when David Hutton was put through with the keeper advancing his lop shot was too high and sailed over the bar.
Then just before the interval another fright for Thurrock as a corner dropped into the six yard box and after a pin ball like exchange between the defenders and strikers the ball was blasted away.
HT 0-0
Thurrock made two changes at the start of the first half bringing on Nathan Ashton and Ross Gilfedder to replace Paul Terry and Warren Goodhind.
Thurrock looked more positive and started to make and impressin on the game and in the 54th minute they took the lead with a Lee Boylan strike from the edge of the 18 yard box that beat the keeper at the far post.
Thurrock continued to lok good for their lead and pushed on hoping to secure a valuable victory.
With only four minutes remaining Ross Gilfedder went close to securing the game after David Knight and then John O’Donnell fired in shots that were blocked, but Gilfedder’s effort fro the six yard box was cleared off the goal line.
At the final whistle the three points saved Thurrock from relegation but possibly only for one more day.
