Labour leader Kent blames Tories for job losses

THE LABOUR leader of Thurrock Council, cllr John Kent has expressed his anger and frustration at the announcement that dozens of jobs would go from a Thurrock company.

Thermalite in West Thurrock have announced that 65 jobs will go from the West Thurrock base.

Cllr Kent said: “The news about Thermalite is very disappointing — a tragedy for every worker involved and another knock for Thurrock’s overall economy.

“More than that, I suspect this news is as a direct consequence of this government’s inability to get the country’s economy moving and failing to take Labour’s advice to get the construction industry working and use it to kick-start Britain.”

  1. He was kind of doing OK until he said “I suspect this news is as a direct consequence of this government’s inability to get the country’s economy moving and failing to take Labour’s advice..” Oh dear. Why would anybody take advice from a Party that left us up crap creek without a paddle?

  2. These Labour politicians that have now got selective memory loss are becoming a joke, yes the ConDem governmment are not ideal and some of the cuts to the country are very hard but do Labour not remember the state of the economy just before they left power, maybe Mr Kent should ring Mr Brown and ask him about the lack of cash left in the countries pot when he was ousted then maybe it may jog his memory.

If the boot was on the other foot and that monotone Milliband was in charge I could certainly not see anything different happening in the country other than maybe our public borrowing would continue to rise again.

  3. Spot on Lambo.

Labour only work when there’s money floating around. A Labour government would have us going cup in hand to the IMF.

I would also like Cllr Kent to remind us of Labours economic plans as I didnt think they had any, yet they oppose everything the coalition does.

  4. How can the residents get local jobs when Thurrock planning officers are incapable of working with local business to promote inward investment and development in to the borough?

  5. Nope, Thurrock non – aligned voters are just fed up with Labour’s constant bulls**t and failure to take responsibility for anything prior to the last election. We would, and do, moan just as much about the Tory bulls**t too but they don’t appear on YT as much as Labour.
