New Rotary Group’s first fundraising success

By Lucy Chipperfield

It hasn’t been created for long, but the astonishingly quick growth of dedicated and enthusiastic members suggests that it was no surprise that The Provisional Rotary Group of Thurrock Gateway had a significant amount of “umph” to arrange their first fundraiser.

Despite being arranged on Friday 13th April, it certainly wasn’t an unlucky day for this new Rotary Group. Crowds of family and friends flocked to The Masonic Hall in Grays to support the group’s first ever Quiz Night. And what a success it was!

Throughout the evening, teams battled against one-another answering the brain-busting questions in a bid to be crowned the Rotary Group of Thurrock Gateway’s first Quiz-tastic Champions! During their battle, the crowds were also tempted with the chance to win some excellent prizes in the raffle.

Impressively, £600 was raised from the evening! Therefore, I think we can all agree that such a brilliant start really does prove that this new, innovative and ultimately incredibly super Rotary Group has a very promising future ahead!
