Buntings on line as residents get in the mood for the Olympics

IF you ever wondered, this is what 75 metres of red, white and blue bunting looks like…

Residents at the Vigerons Way sheltered housing complex in Chadwell St Mary were one of the first to sign up to get Thurrock Council’s free 100m bunting pack to celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee earlier this year.

They have been busy working with complex warden Pat Lambert putting their bunting together and are planning to attend the Torch |Relay on Friday, 6 July in Grays as well as having a party on the Jubilee weekend.

As well as many sheltered housing complexes in the borough ― organised by the council’s partner Vertex’s housing services ― many different organisations have taken advantage of the bunting pack, including BBC Essex, local Scouts and church groups.

For up to date information on the Torch Relay as well as other events please see Celebrate Thurrock on the council’s website www.thurrock.gov.uk/celebrate

If there are any questions on the Olympic Torch Relay in Grays on Friday, 6 July, email us at Torchrelay@thurrock.gov.uk

Thurrock Council is also seeking to help celebrate and co-ordinate Olympic themed events across the borough. Anyone organising one is asked to let the council know by emailing torchrelay@thurrock.gov.uk
