Running up to the marathon, www.carsonscorner.com ran prize draws to assist both charities and their runners with their fundraising efforts.
CarsonsCorner is delighted to announce that “EssexT” aka Tony Brown is the winner of their marathon runner prize draw. He received £625 which he has split between two charities.
Having started as a reluctant runner, South Ockendon man, Tony’s motivation to run the London Marathon was to achieve a lifetime ambition.
Tony said: “Ever since I have been a toddler, the event has been a huge part of my life. My Nan lived directly on the route and the marathon always provided the setting for annual family get together and I was always wrapped up in the atmosphere and the magic of what people were doing and achieving.
“Once I decided that I was going to take part, I decided that there would be no better way to complete this achievement then raising a huge amount for a charity at the same time. Not only will this be a big impact on my life but it will also help others at the same time.” Tony completed the course in a very respectable 4h 44m.
True to his word, Tony ran on behalf of CHILDREN with CANCER UK and decided to split his winnings with Beating Bowel Cancer, another charity close to his heart.
