Val bids to be Super-Cop!

THE DEPUTY leader of Thurrock Council, cllr Valerie Morris-Cook is making a bid to become the police commissioner for Essex.

Cllr Morris-Cook is one of two nominations by Labour in the county. Val will go head-to-head with Labour party chairman Jordan Newell for the nomination.

The ballot will open on May 23 and last three weeks.

The Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties are yet to pick a candidate.

Retired Chief Supt Mick Thwaites, the former Southend police commander is standing in the elections in November as an independent candidate.

YT will be interviewing the retired chief supt. and cllr Morris-Cook over the next few days.


  1. I remember her election leaflets she put out proclaiming ‘The Residents Friend – The Criminals Worst Enemy’. Over the many years since being elected she has done wonders to crack down and eradicate crime in Grays High Street…

    …oh hold on – better remove that from her CV!
