Biker in serious condition after collision in Stanford

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Grays which has left a 46-year-old man from Grays with life-threatening injuries.

The collision happened in Stanford Road, the A1013, at its junction with Buckingham Hill Road, at 9.30pm last night, Tuesday, May 22.

The man was riding a green Benelli Tornado motorcycle which was in collision with a blue Mazda 2. The driver of the Mazda, a man in his 80s from West Bergholt near Colchester, was uninjured.

The road was closed but reopened at 1.50am.

The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to The Royal London hospital with multiple fractures requiring surgery.
