Global and local as TRUST celebrate language classes

ON Monday 28th May 2012, Thurrock Racial Unity Support Taskgroup (TRUST) womens group celebrated their end of term English classes. The classes now offer level 1 and 2 basic communication, reading and writing.

This has proved extremely successful in terms of confidence raising, inter-generational communication and self worth.

At present 46 women attend the classes from diverse cultures and ages. Nepalese, African, Asian, Polish, Italian, Latvian, Slovakian, Phillipine and Chinese women came together to celebrate nine women achieving Level 1 and 9 women achieving Level 2.

Recently inaugurated Mayor, Yash Gupta gave the honour of presenting the certificates and he said “The Women’s group has grown from strength to strength and I am very impressed by the diversity of the group.”

Fatima Loum, TRUST Women’s Worker said “The women’s commitment has made my work more fulfilling and there will be a day when the women will be achieving Level 3 and seeking out further education. I would like to thank the Big Lottery and the organisations that have made a commitment to this project.”

Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Fatima Loum at TRUST on 01375 385316
