Another great success for Thurrock foodbank

THURROCK foodbank collected another amazing 1.5 tonnes of food at Tesco Extra in Pitsea on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd June due to the generosity and kindness of the people in donating food and the volunteers who gave up their time at this Jubilee Weekend to help receive it.

Thurrock foodbank would also like to say a special thank you to Emma Biddle, Food Donations Co-ordinator, for all of her hard work behind the scenes and also to Roy Edworthy and Dave Matthams for the use of the Besom van in transporting the food to the temporary warehouse.

Thurrock Foodbank would also like to say a special thank you to Stephen Metcalfe MP and Local Councillor James Halden who also volunteered with us on 1st June.

Emma Biddle saID: “A big thank you to all the shoppers at the store who supported us, it was a great two days.

This latest collection leads Thurrock foodbank closer to their target of launching distribution centres across Thurrock in mid-July so that people in crisis can be given food and no one needs to go hungry in the borough.
