THURROCK’S very own Erin Brockovich has won a vital victory in her fight against toxic mould in Thurrock’s housing stock.

Belhus resident, Deirdre Lodge has fought a two year campaign but has now found a real ally in deputy leader, Val Morris-Cook who is taken her campaign on board.

A number of committees will now be specifically set up to wrestle with the problem.

The committees will meet every month. There will also be an awareness campaign to go to houses, schools and surgeries.

Portfolio holder for Housing, Cllr Morris-Cook will also bring on board a number of experts such as Univ of Manchesters, Dr Atherton/ National Aspergillus centre and the ISSE/ Institute of specialist Surveyors and Engineers.

None of this would have been achieved without the sterling work and dogged determination of a very dedicated and very brave woman.Mrs Lodge, we salute you!
