Schools work together for film festival
Schools in Thurrock have taken part in the first Thurrock International Film Festival. Palmer’s College, William Edwards School and The Gateway Academy all took part this week.
Year 10 pupils from William Edwards School spent the day at Palmer’s College on a crash course in filmmaking run by the A Level Film students there. They learnt how to plan, shoot and edit a short film in one day. They then also made posters for their films.
Their work will be premiered at the festival Awards Ceremony this Saturday evening (Thameside Theatre, 7pm) and their posters displayed in the theatre foyer.
William Edwards School also hosted a film screening, as did The Gateway Academy. William Edwards School hosted a screening of Louise’s Diary – 1942, a retelling of Romeo & Juliet in the Second World War and The Gateway Academy hosted a special screening of the classic The Wizard of Oz.
The best Music Video and Experimental films were screened at Palmer’s College yesterday which featured two videos by local artist Tall Dark Friend. One of which is nominated for several awards on Saturday.
