Transportation plans on track says portfolio holder in 22 seconds flat!

HE MAY NOT look like he is built for speed but portfolio holder for transport, Andy Smith delivered a report to the full council that was quicker than Usain Bolt in the 200 metres.

YT timed his report at just under 19 seconds.

The portfolio holder receives an allowance of over £16,000 a year. He is known for his “laconic style” but even this taciturn performance took the Conservative councillors by surprise as they scrambled to deliver their questions.

Led by shadow spokesperson for regeneration, cllr Garry Hague, they managed to extract a seres of responses as to whether Thurrock was on track to deliver a number of transportation pledges.

Councillor Smith was able to tell the chamber that plans to improve junction 30 of the M25 and parts of the A13 were on track for next year.

Whilst he was also able to answer a query from Labour councillor Gerard Rice on the plans for executive homes as part of the Lakeside developments near to Arena Essex.

  1. Makes a mockery of Portfolio Holders presenting reports to Full Council. Perhaps he didn’t have time to read what officers had prepared for him?

  2. I’m with Lambo on this one?
I’d also like to know more about the ‘executive homes’ which will be built. Does the area around Arena Essex not belong to the green belt?
