THURROCK COUNCIL have started a sweep of the borough to tidy up derelict buildings.
The issue of derelict buildings came up during the Council roadshow discussions “Let’s Tak” in 2011.
On the back of that, building control consulted with local community forums and compiled a list of priority buildings.
Using section 76 of the Buildings Act, formal action was taken against 11 sites from West Thurrock to Tilbury.
The action has resulted in planning applications being submitted on a number of the sites.
