Updated: GCSE results in Thurrock

IF THE GCSE results that came out on Thursday were a Facebook status then the term would be: “It’s Complicated”

As you may see, every year since 2008, we have been able to put a table of schools up ranking 1-10 with their 5 A* to C (including English and Maths).

This year, we have been to all ten schools in less than two hours and found that there have, at some schools been some problems because of the marking/ assessment of the English Language exam.

Indeed, we sent our Thurrock FC football correspondent, Bill Robinson to a couple of the schools but he reported back that he got the feeling that education minister, Michael Gove might have moved the goalposts!

So, we have been at all ten schools.

We may now have to wait some time for the results from Grays School, Ockendon Academy and Ormiston Park Academy.

  1. The Grays School, Ockendon Academy and Ormiston Park have yet to publish their percentage of 5 GCSE’s at A* to C’.

I guess like most schools, this is because of concerns over grade boundary changes to English GCSEs.

Hands up who thinks the controversy will only surround ‘D’ grade GCSEs that could have been ‘Cs’?

Once again this isn’t about children and education. It’s all just about league table positions!
