GRAYS ATHLETIC bosses have issued a statement after the report of their chief executive being charged by the police made national headlines.
YT reported last month that Swallow, 51, had been charged with conspiracy to commit violence and is due in court next month.
The story was splashed all over The Sun on Sunday.
A club spokesperson said: “Further to misleading stories in the media, the Club would like to clarify its position.
“Contrary to one report, chief executive and shareholder Andy Swallow has no official or legal link with West Ham United in relation to the club’s lease of the Rush Green Stadium or any other activity.
Grays Athletic remain extremely grateful to West Ham United for their kind offer to loan us their facility at Rush Green, which effectively ensured the club could continue in the Isthmian League.
Further to legal advice, in order not to prejudice impending legal proceedings, neither Mr Swallow nor the Club will be issuing any further statement on this matter.
