Stan versus Gissing: “A bunch of village idiots”

OCKENDON man, Stan Rainbird, has reacted with disdain at the protests in a Norfolk village against his proposal to build there.

According to the Diss Express, Stan, from Mollands Lane received planning permission to build one home on land adjacent to St Mary’s Church in Lower Street, Gissing, Norfolk in 1975, but has now submitted an application to South Norfolk Council, which could see two homes built on the site along with garages and four parking spaces.

The villagers of Gissing in Norfolk will be “banging a pan’ on Sunday on the green to demonstrate and dozens have written to the council in protest.

Stan has lived in Thurrock all his life. Originally from Aveley, he owns Brewers Farm in Orsett and is well know for helping a number of charities.

  1. what an idiot!! I moved to a village near Gissing in 2004 from Grays, and can’t quite comprehend why someone would want to build on the green in this quaint village!
This man just comes across as a complete arrogant fool! it’s people like him that make the rest of us Essex/London escapees disliked by these small village communities!

  2. I bet this guy doesn’t look in the mirror to often, if he did he would really understand what an idiot looks like.

I agree with other posters, this guy’s persona is not a true reflection of us as a group of people and I am not surprised his planning requests have been kicked into touch, Norfolk might be slow in comparison to Essex, but not as slow as Stan the Man (or not the man he thinks he is).
