FOR the fifth successive year, Thurrock’s tenant participation team will be heading back into the past at the Civic Hall, Blackshots.
The evening of Friday, 26 October sees the fifth Yesteryears event aiming to challenge perceptions about sheltered housing.
Each year, a group of tenants from sheltered complexes come together to plan and theme the event. This year sees the return of the popular Jeff Short Big Band to celebrate the 40s and 50s picking up two themes linking the decades to 2012 – Olympic celebrations in 1948 and the coronation of the Queen.
Young people from Seabrooke Rise Community House lent a hand to preparations last Saturday. An art workshop at Proof House was held to produce props and a collage which will be on display on the night.
Tickets are £10 and are available from Thameside Box Office (0845 300 5264).
