London Marathon 2013: David runs for Thurrock Scouts

THURROCK Scout Leader David Tapsell is relatively new to running but next April will prove his love of scouting by running and raising funds for The Scout Association in The London Marathon 2013.

David ran his first mile in November 2011, progressing to The British 10k in July 2012 and The Royal Parks Half Marathon in October.

David is a District Scout Leader, as well as The Scout Active Support Manager and Vice Chairman of Thurrock Scout & Guide Gang Show.

Scouting is proud to have been part of his family, his dad, brother and six year old daughter have been touched by Scouting in Thurrock.

David said “All of us and especially my daughter would not have been able to embark on this journey without the support of the volunteer adults that help thousands of boys and girls across the UK develop key skills in leadership, teamwork and confidence.

He continued “There is a lot of bad press about the youth of today and with one in four under 25s without a job,

Scouting is working in its communities to support young people, aid their development and help them play an active and positive role in today’s society and therefore helping to try and change the way youths are perceived in general.
David’s fundraising target is £2000.
