GRAND-parents and residents quizzed the education boss at Thurrock Council last night (Wednesday) over places for reception year students at Bonnygate primary in South Ockendon.

Concerns were raised a couple of weeks ago, that many parents would miss out on a place as the two form (60 students) entry would revert back to its old one form (30) students.

But portfolio holder, cllr Oliver Gerrish sought to reassure the parents and residents.

Cllr Gerrish told them that the two form entry would continue in 2013-14 and that the question of a two form entry in future years would be decided on the basis of feedback from consultation.

The councillor also denied suggestions that parents, who were also residents at the new housing developments in Arisdale Avenue, would be given priority and he also went on record that the council’s was not in the job of engineering places to fill up gaps in other primary school in the area.
