THE SNOWS on Wednesday could not prevent the grand opening of the Stanford and Corringham skills and sixth form centre.
Baroness Smith of Basildon joined the mayor of Thurrock, cllr Yash Gupta, portfolio holder for education, cllr Oliver Gerrish as well as headteacher of Gable Hall school, Dr Sophina Asong and chief executive of St Clere’s Co-operative Academy Trust, Paul Griffiths and principal of Hassenbrook Academy, Richard Glasby in celebrating the opening.
The centre is a partnership between the three schools.
After the opening, students took the guests on a tour of the centre based at Gable Hall school in Southend Road, Corringham.
YT’s camera’s followed the tour guide, year 13 student, Emily Elsom as she took the guests through a fascinating tour of both academic and vocational subjects in action, that are going to prove to be a tremendous boost for education in the borough.
Our 26-minute films also captures the key note speeches of Dr Asong, the mayor, cllr Gerrish and Baroness Smith.
