CHADWELL teenager, John Philpott, 16, has died after a long battle against Batten’s Disease.
It was the end of a heart-breaking battle against the genetic disorder, made doubly so, as his sister Bridie also succumbed from the neurological illness last year.
Eight years ago, John and Bridie were healthy children, who could play out (John often in his beloved West Ham kit).
Despite, the tragedy, the battle against the disease was marked by a tremendous coming together of family and friends as they organised countless fundraising and awareness events to help fund research into the illness.
Friends have gone onto Facebook to pay tribute to John’s bravery.
Janice said: “R.I.P John, you was a fighter, your gonna be missed by so many people, xxxxxxxx”
Whilst Ashleigh has written: “Rest in perfect paradise with your beautiful sister, you will always be missed John such a fighter. My thoughts are with your whole family.”
A family spokesperson has said: “Thank you for all the kind words and messages.”
