THE walls of the Thameside Theatre in Grays reverberated to the beautiful concert sounds of the world’s finest violinists on Saturday (12 January).
Thurrock Music Services had invited Tasmin Little to the theatre to perform with 40 young string players from Thurrock and neighbouring areas.
The string ensemble performed arrangements of well-known Mozart pieces and Russian folk music, ending the event by accompanying Tasmin in a performance of Meditation from Thais by Massenet.
Also included were solo performances by eight of the talented young string players who had earlier had the chance to work one-to-one on their pieces in master-class sessions.
Tasmin also gave two solo performances.
Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Yash Gupta, was among several councillors at the event and said afterwards he enjoyed the concert and thanked Tasmin for inspiring the borough’s “young people who performed wonderfully”.
He also thanked the musicians, their parents, teachers and Thurrock Music Services for their hard work in organising and putting on the event.
