STAY at home mums and dads are being targeted by Corringham Fire Station in a new recruitment campaign aimed at bolstering cover in the area.
There are currently retained firefighter vacancies at the station so if you are physically fit and can respond to a pager from home to your local fire station within four to five minutes, ECFRS could offer you a rewarding and challenging career that allows you to strike a first-class work/life balance.
Station Officer Geoff Wheal said: “We are looking at new groups of people who may not want a full-time job but are looking to get involved in a career opportunity that allows them to strike a good balance between work and home – carers, mums and dads, graduates who have returned to the area and are at home out of work while searching for a job and people that run their own businesses.
“We know there’s a wealth of people at home during the day that would welcome the opportunity of extra income while doing something that is extremely valuable to the community where they live.
“The hours are flexible and staff are paid depending on the number of hours they are able to commit to.
“Across the county we have retained firefighters from diverse backgrounds and a range of professions and ages, so there are no barriers in terms of applying – applicants will obviously need to be fit enough to deal with the rigours of the job and have a good standard of general education.”
