FOLLOWING a visit by Salvation Army representative Major Sharon King at Hassenbrook Academy in Stanford-le-hope students and staff have been collecting various items to make a donation to our local Foodbank in King St.
Her visit was originally planned to give background to a novel, Stone Cold, to year 9 students who were studying the text but throughout the hour discussing the needs of the homeless the students identified this need and started a campaign in the Academy to gather food for distribution.
Mrs Elizabeth Gilbody, Teacher of English said: “These foodbanks provide emergency food and support for people experiencing crisis. We hope that our charity at this difficult time has helped to make the seasonal period easier and more enjoyable for those less fortunate at this time.”
