OVER the last couple of months North Stifford have had an enjoyable time. Our members had a nice day out visiting the Christmas market at Bury St.Edmunds, somewhere we would recommend as not only was the market good and lots of members made purchases but the Cathedral held carol services and the local church was equally impressive especially as serving tea and cakes, but a good time was had by all.
In December some of our members joined the rest of the WI’s in the area for the annual Carol concert which was held this year at Orsett Church. Our December meeting was the exchange of Christmas gifts and the following week our members had a really enjoyable Christmas Lunch at Orsett Hall.
In January our President opened the meeting by wishing everyone a very Happy New Year. Our President informed the meeting that one of our members actually won £50 in the Winstone Club of the Essex Federation so it is worth trying these competitions. The President also advised the meeting of a couple of forthcoming outings to The Chocolate Lady at Steeple Bumpstead and also Tea at “Sands”. Following this we had a ‘Bring and Buy’ sale then this followed an absolute brilliant talk from one of our members about her 35 years as an air hostess, which certainly made the meeting chuckle and all members said that hopefully she will give us a further talk at a later date.
