Thurrock Businesses celebrate being nominated for awards

A HOST OF Thurrock businesses have been shortlisted for the Thurrock Businesses Awards 2013.

The awards run by Newsquest have become one of the key events in the Thurrock diary.

Among those short-listed are Caroline Thomas of Sales Scene who has been nominated for businesswoman of the year as well as new company.

Caroline said: “I am so pleased to have been nominated. We have had a really good twelve months and this is such a boost.”

Another nominee is HW Wilson Ltd of South Ockendon who have been nominated in the customer service category.

Spokesperson Phil Pearson said: “Customer service is key to what we do every single day. So to be recognised in this way is such a compliment and achievement. we are delighted.

The Thameside Nature Park has also been recognised.

A spokesperson said: “After being open for six months,we have been chosen as finalists for Enviromental Awareness and Community Charity in the Thurrock Business Awards – I am so proud of our team especially the hard work and commitment shown by the volunteers

Orsett Hall has also been recognised in a number of ways with marketing consultant Andrea Ince being nominated for businesswoman of the year.

It is going to be a tough job for the judges. Brett Smallcombe of LG Networks is relishing the challenge of being a judge.

Brett said: “It’s early days so far with respect to judging the finalists for Excellence in Customer Service at the Thurrock Business Awards 2013.

“From the information we have received from Newsquest, the standard of the entries looks much higher than in previous years. It’s going to be a tough job to differentiate between the contrasting types of business we are going to be judging over the next couple of weeks.”
