Second armed robbery in two days in Tilbury

POLICE are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a store in Tilbury.

Just before 10pm on Tuesday, February 5, two men entered the Welcome shop in Portsea Road, as staff were in the process of closing.

The first man, carrying a knife, walk behind the till and started emptying it and removing cigarettes. He also threatened members of staff.

The first man is described as white, about 6ft tall, of stocky build, wearing dark jeans, trainers, a blue tracksuit zip-up top with white stripes down the arms and a white zip. He wore a black ski mask over his head just leaving his eyes showing, and black gloves. The knife appeared to be about 4-6 inches long.

The second man was slightly shorter than the first, of slimmer build, and wore blue jeans and a light grey hooded top. He also had on a black or dark coloured body warmer with the hood from the top over it. He had something covering his face and mouth. He stood in the doorway preventing the door from closing automatically.

The pair stole around £150 cash and cigarettes worth £50.

They made off on foot across the road and down an alleyway.
