Football: Horrific leg break leads to game being abandoned

Concord Rangers 0 v 0 Thurrock

Match abandoned due to injury.

A SICKENING leg break to Concord player Harry Elmes saw the match against Thurrock abandoned in the second half.

Spectators, players and officials looked on in horror when in the 52nd minute, Thurrock player Ben Walster’ challenge on Elmes saw the top striker’s right tibia and fibula break.

Walster was sent off for the foul.

There was a 45 minute delay whilst an ambulance attended.

The game was abandoned at 0-0.

Harry Elmes was conveyed to Southend Hospital.

Thurrock’s chairman, Tommy South and staff sent over their best wishes to the player.

Football took a back seat on the day but Thurrock looked a much improved team from their recent performances.
