JULIE DARTNELL has won an Oscar for best make-up and hairstyling for Les Misérables at the 85th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
The award comes as a double for Julie who, along with Lisa Westcott, also won a BAFTA recently.
The make up and hair-styling was praised for its ability to recreate the grime and hardship of 19th century Paris.
Julie, 49, who went to Hassenbrook Academy, in Stanford-le-Hope has been in the industry since she was sixteen.
Mother-of-two Julie, now lives in Berkshire but she has a lot of family in Thurrock including her mother Anne and sister, Sally Sandy, who works at Hassenbrook.
