Ryman Div One North
Tilbury 1 v 0 Waltham Forest 0
Att 53
TILBURY returned to winning ways in a game of 2 halves on a bitterly cold afternoon at Chadfields.
Tilbury following 2 defeats against lower opposition, made changes, Danny Francis and Jimmy Cook returned from injury in place of Rimmel Daniel and Aaron Waters. The only disappointment was both Francis and Cook not finishing the game due to new injuries.
Waltham Forest dominated the opening half with Leachman and former Docker Taylor going close. Tilbury had there own chances with Tom Wraight firing wide on 8 and Emiel Aiken striking the bar on 36. Tilbury eventually fired after the break when Mullings played in Wraight who shot just wide of the post.
The next attack brought rewards when Carlile played in the effective Danny Francis who swung from the edge of the box and hit into the net. Tilbury laid siege on Waltham Forest’s defence with Wraight’s free kick just over the top and captain Joe Nightingill just over after a header in the box by Rob Gillman. With the game petering out, both sides had great chances.
On the 90th minute substitute Tony Jacobs played in Aiken who rounded the keeper only to see his effort cleared off the line. The resulting corner from Tom Wraight had to be scrambled away, as it was going in from his direct kick.
Waltham Forest almost stole a point in added time when Aiken was this time the saviour as he cleared off the line before James Marrable was called in to action to tip a shot round for a corner.
The referee blew his whistle to the relief of the home side.
The result lifted the Dockers up one place to 8th, but still some way from the play off places as all the top sides won. Tilbury travel to Potters Bar Town on Tuesday before welcoming some of Tilbury’s old favourites when Brentwood visit on Saturday.
