Dozens of sports clubs hear more about chances for Olympic legacy cash

MORE than 30 Thurrock sports clubs joined Cllr Steve Liddiard, council officers and representatives from Sported on Wednesday (17 April) evening.

Delegates to the council-organised Olympic Legacy Funding conference at the Thameside Theatre learned of the various funding opportunities available.

And Dr David Sollis,regional director of Sported outlined his organisation’s role as the UK’s leading sports development charity and its intention to help transform the lives of disadvantaged young people aged between 11 and 25 through funding sport-related programmes

Cllr Liddiard said: “There are so many Thurrock sports clubs and this is a great opportunity for them all to bid for funding to inspire our young people through sport.”

He added: “Even those clubs that couldn’t get to the Thameside still have a chance to bid for between £2,000 and £20,000.”
