Belhus U13 124-4
Rayleigh U13 53 all out

Joshua Reynolds completed a hat-trick for Belhus in this twenty overs per side match on Sunday morning. In fact Reynolds took another wicket to make it four in an over as he finished with 4-15 from four overs, which included a quadruple wicket maiden. Zak Wilson also caused Rayleigh problems with three wickets at a cost of just four runs from two overs, while Tyler Kohl, Harrison Walker and Ben Garwood picked up one wicket each. Earlier, Belhus opener Billy Turley had scored 15 until he was caught and bowled by Lopez (1-27). The innings was bolstered by a fine undefeated 25 from Andrew Williams while Garwood and Wilson also reached double figures with 10 not out and 12 runs respectively. Joining Rayleigh’s Lopez amongst the wickets were King, 1-24, Smith, 1-12 and Kian with 1-10.

Bentley 1st 231-8
Belhus 1st 232-5

Ryan Wells and Roy Heffernan were in the runs as they helped their Belhus team to a five wicket win in the Warsop Sunday League at Coxtie Green Road. Wells plundered his second big half-century in as many days as he struck 74 runs from just 49 deliveries, hitting five fours and five sixes in the process. Heffernan, meanwhile finished undefeated on 61 from 63 balls faced, hitting two sixes. Like Wells, Heffernan also clocked up five fours. There were also significant contributions by Belhus captain Michael Fogg with 25 and Danny Norris on 23. In the Bentley innings, the bulk of the runs were scored by the top three batsmen. Paraguter hit 30, but fellow opening batsman Gordon was undefeated on 80 not out at the close of the innings. Coleman also made a significant contribution to the home team’s total with 83, until he was bowled by Sam Hall, who returned figures of 4-53 from eight overs. Chris Baker, Norris and Heffernan picked up one wicket each.

Belhus 1st XI 271-3
Hornchurch 1st 118 all out

Joe Joyce was dismissed just one run short of a century at Harrow Lodge Park on Saturday and, in so doing, became only the third Belhus member to have been dismissed on 99 in the club’s history. The previous two instances were David Webb in an U15 Peters Cup match at Hutton in 1981 and Martin Guilbert suffered the same fate more recently, in 2007. But it will probably not affect Joyce too much as the net result in this Shepherd Neame Essex league division two clash was victory by quite a margin – 153 runs to be precise. Ryan Wells provided strong support with 81 runs to his name as Belhus built their unassailable score.

Belhus 1st 142-8
Hainault and Clayhall 1st 143-6

Belhus narrowly lost this close Dukes T20 Trophy match as Hainault and Clayhall reached their target with just five balls to spare. Joe Joyce hit a magnificent 84 for Belhus, but then Sachin Vaja responded with similar panache as he struck 56 for the home side. Eventually, an unbroken partnership for the seventh wicket between Yasin Patel and Humza Mahmud proved crucial as they scored 19 and 14 respectively, despite the best efforts of Mathew Lewis junior, Joyce, Billy Winter, Roy Heffernan and Navin Seneviratne, all of whom picked up one wicket each. For Hainault and Clayhall, Umad Sultan and Sohaib Waqar picked up two wickets each.

Old Brentwoods 2nd 93 all out
Belhus 2nd 94-6

Imran Mohammed and Jabir Iqbal ripped the heart out of the Old Brentwoods’ batting at North Stifford on Saturday as they shared seven wickets. Imran picked up 4-18 from nine overs (three maidens) and he was backed up by Iqbal with 3-17 inside 8.1 overs which included two maidens. Roy Heffernan top scored in the Belhus reply with 30 runs despite the best efforts of the visitors’ Muhammad Sheikh Bilal who picked up four wickets for 35 runs from 13 overs (three maidens).

Belhus 3rd 121 all out
Hutton 4th 81 all out

Belhus maintained their 100% Shepherd Neame League division three record with a 40-run victory over Hutton at South Ockendon Recreation Ground on Saturday. Mudassir Mukhtar was the chief architect in keeping the Belhus record intact with a devastating spell of bowling from the St. Nicholas end. Mukhtar finished with 7-27 from 15.5 overs, six of which were maidens. Only Hutton’s number three batsman Chris Payne managed double figures with 21. Keith Dhannie collected 2-18 from eight overs (one maiden) for Belhus, while the remaining wicket to fall was that of William Southgate, run out by Jim Banner throw which was relayed by John Forrest for a direct hit at the stumps. Earlier, Tom Thompson led from the front with 29 in adverse batting conditions, while Banner hit 23. Dhannie struck 22 but Hutton fought back well, largely as a result of a 5-22 haul from third change Kishore Punwani.

Belhus 4th 92 all out
Stanford le Hope 4th 93-9

This match could hardly have been closer as the pendulum made a dramatic late swing in favour of the home side. It was Geoff Gullett and James Hogger, Stanford’s last pair, who gamely held on for their slender win. Stanford had won the toss and elected to field. The decision appeared to be fully justified as the visitors slumped to 92 all out, despite a solid 42 from opener Mike Randall. Only two other Belhus batsmen reached double figures, being Scott Stonham with 14 and Elliott Playle with ten runs. Stanford’s Clive Ballard wreaked havoc in the Belhus ranks with 6-12 from 12 overs, half of which were maidens. After tea, Jono Symes struck 20, opener David Ashley contributed 15 while Ballard hit 18. Then five penalty runs were correctly credited to the Stanford score after the Belhus wicketkeeper missed the ball which struck the helmet positioned on the ground behind him. Alan Maidment was the most productive Belhus bowler with 4-18 from a dozen overs (four maidens) while Paul Hall and Robert Long collected two wickets apiece.

Rainham 3rd 227-6
Belhus 5th 204-9

Belhus and Rainham, both co-tenants of the excellent ground at Thames Rugby Club, met for the second time within a month. The outcome was the same – a win for the Havering based team but on this occasion the margin was much closer as Belhus were edged out by just 23 runs in this social fixture on Saturday afternoon. John Wilson produced the pick of the Belhus achievement with a stylish innings as he finished undefeated with 67 runs to his name.
