CAKE pops, cupcakes and cooking have never been trendier, and the team at intu Lakeside have been working hard to make shopping even better for budding bakers. Following strong customer demand for the brand, intu Lakeside has confirmed that Lakeland, the UK’s top kitchenware retailer, is set to open a shop in the centre.
The retailer, which is as renowned for its extensive range of quality kitchenware as it is for its loyal and sophisticated customer base, will open a 5,000 sq ft shop near House of Fraser in the autumn.
Izzie Peskett, intu Lakeside’s marketing manager, said: “Lakeland has a very loyal customer base who love to shop. This highly popular brand is regularly requested as a must have brand in customer surveys, so we know they will hit the ground running at intu Lakeside and we can’t wait to welcome them to the mix.”
Lakeland’s Marketing Director, Tony Preedy, said: “Lakeland continues to go from strength to strength. We’ve had many, many requests from our customers to open a store at intu Lakeside, and we’re delighted that this year we will finally be able to do so, in time for Christmas 2013.”
Intu’s £180 million expansion plans for intu Lakeside, which have already received outline planning consent, are focused on meeting the needs of both existing and future tenants. The plans include an extended retail offer that will see 40 new stores as well as improved transport links. Intu also plans a major new leisure space at intu Lakeside.
