Update: Sat June 29th
DETECTIVES have appealed for information to trace two men who carried out two robberies within five minutes at Corringham.
The incidents happened at 5.30pm and 5.35pm on Wednesday June 26.
In the first robbery two teenage boys were confronted and chased by the men at Southend Road. Both boy were ordered to hand over their mobile phones and were warned they would be stabbed if they refused, although no knife was seen. The boys, both aged 16 and from Stanford-le-Hope, ran but one of them dropped a Ralph Lauren bag which was taken by the thieves. The contents were recovered later but the bag is still missing.
In a similar second incident at Corringham Park in Springhouse Road two young men sitting on a bench with two girls, were approached by the thieves and told to hand over their phones or “something bad would happen to them”. The victims, both aged 19 and from Corringham, were assaulted and had their phones taken.
Investigating officer DC Clive Day said: “Although no weapon was produced all four victims said that the robbers both had something in their pockets that could have been a knife and they all feared for their safety.”
One suspect was white, aged 20 to 25, 6ft tall and of medium build. He had distinctive teeth that were yellow and had gaps and were uneven, possibly chipped. He was wearing a baby blue coloured baseball cap with a burgundy peak. The hat also had a firetrap logo and a cream Aztec pattern. The man was clean-shaven and had light brown hair. He was wearing a grey hoody and grey bottoms. The hoody had some form of writing on the front. It is believed that he had a tattoo of italic writing on the right side of his neck and a pattern on the outside of his right wrist
The second man was slightly older and was of a slightly bigger build. He was unshaven and had a shaped goatee beard. He was wearing a baseball cap with a red peak and with Airwalk on the front. He was also wearing a grey hoody and grey bottoms.
