A NEW scooter training initiative is being introduced in Thurrock for all Year 1 pupils in the borough and Quarry Hill Primary School has already started.
Pupils will be taught how to scoot safely with an adult on short journeys and particularly on the trips to and from school.
Pupils will bring in their own scooters and a basic safety check will be carried out.
They will be taught how to manoeuvre their scooters, including controlled stopping and how to behave around others using the paths.
Pupils will be taught how to safely cross the road with or without their scooters, reinforcing important pedestrian road safety skills.
Sessions are one hour long and will take place on the school playground.
