The Bells rang out for the new royal arrival

THE BELLS of St Peter and St Paul’s church rang out last night to announce and celebrate the arrival of the prince of Cambridge, son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The baby boy was born at 4.24pm on Monday afternoon.

The bell-ringers usually practice on a Monday evening but there was a special peal that rang out across the borough.

Residents for miles around could hear the bells and many went on twitter to announce their delight.

Arron White said: “Well done to the bell ringers at Grays parish church. Sense of occasion as the bells rang out across town at announcement of birth of prince.”

Whilst Carol Kennedy said: “I was driving and turned off my stereo in order to listen. Warm breeze and charming chimes across Grays. Again please!
