Hutton 247/7 52 Overs
Horndon on the Hill 250/6 43.5 overs
HORNDON came out as winners from their Division 2 top of the table clash away at leaders Hutton last week. The home side elected to bat upon winning the toss and had made a solid start until Marson made the break through with 45 on the board. On a good wicket Hutton continued to make progress with valuable half centuries from Vanner and Carpenter. Marson also picked up the wicket of the in-form Jason Plom whilst Jeff West picked up 3 wickets from the other end. Hutton ended the innings on 247 for the loss of 7 wickets.
Horndon’s reply started slowly before Jan joined Canavon at the crease with the score at 35 for 2. The pair’s impressive partnership of 123 set up the run chase before Canavon fell to Southgate for a well-made 86. Ginsburgh came to the crease with Horndon needing 89 for victory and set about the task straight away. Hutton managed to pick up wickets regularly until Ginsburgh was joined by Marson. The pair saw Horndon home with 2 overs to spare; Ginsburgh’s inventive hitting saw him end on 52 not out to take Horndon 5 points clear at the top with 6 games to go.
