Rob gets around the borough on his trusty bike but Rob awoke on Monday morning to find his bike had been stolen from the back of his home.

Rob put out an appeal on social media for the bike.

It was seen on twitter by the deputy leader of Thurrock Council, cllr Barbara Rice and her husband, cllr Gerard Rice.

Gerard is a keen cyclist and often competes in the Thurrock Cycle Marathon. Hearing of Rob’s plight, they both decided to donate their spare bike to Rob.

Rob has been overjoyed at the councillor’s generosity.

He said: I would like to thank Barbara and Gerard for giving me a bike after my one was stolen from my garden in Chadwell St Mary

“There messages on Twitter really meant a lot to me and thank you.”

Although the bike has not been recovered yet, Rob has also appreciated the help of “twitter legend” Insp. Leigh Norris, who has tweeted a picture of the bicycle.
