WHEN LANSDOWNE ACADEMY student, Enya McCarthy received a few sunflower seeds at school, she was determined to see if they would grow.
So, Enya went home to Linford and showed her mother Dena.
Enya went straight down to the bottom of the garden and found the perfect spot.
She then waited. And slowly but steadily, the sunflower grew and grew and grew. It was greatly helped by the heatwave we had but now the sunflower stands six feet tall.
Dena said: “Enya is so proud of her sunflower. It was lovely to see the sunflower grow from the handful of seeds to the mighty sunflower.
“I would also like to thank the school for encouraging children to learn about and engage with nature.”
