YOUNG families in the west of Thurrock had the chance to have fun and learn over the last couple of weeks as two of the borough’s children’s centres held fun days. On Friday (16 August), the Aveley Children’s Centre in Stifford Road held its event. The centre is aimed at providing services for the under-fives, and welcomed over 165 children, parents and carers to the event.
A learning environment was the theme for the day where families could join in activities to promote learning through play.
Visitors were particularly delighted by the Birds of Flight falconry display, but there was also the wiggle and giggle children’s Zumba, messy play, a bouncy castle, sensory play for babies, cake decorating, and a healthy barbecue.
The Ockendon Children’s Centre in Afton Drive, welcomed over 147 children, parents and carers on Friday, 9 August, for a series of activities to support children’s learning and development.
The fun included messy play, cake decorating, sensory play for babies, a bouncy castle, a healthy barbeque lunch and wiggle and giggle children’s Zumba.
Both events were aimed at engaging local families and promoting the centres’ services and the support and activities that are available
The Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tony Fish was at both events and thanks all the volunteers and members of the teams for their hard work.
