Jury out at Liam Holden murder trial

THE jury in the trial of two brothers accused murdering of Liam Hlden has retired to consider its verdict.

Liam Holden, 35, of Grays, died of a head injury suffered in a car park off London Road in Grays on March 10th.

Owen Wood, 24, and his 21-year-old brother Ryan, both of Godman Road, Grays, deny murder and are on trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Owen Wood told the jury he was acting in self-defence. Ryan Wood did not give evidence.

During the trial, the jury heard Mr Holden was followed by the brothers as he left a nightclub.

It is then alleged he was punched to the head before he was repeatedly kicked.

Owen Wood told the jury he had been hit by Mr Holden’s partner of 15 years, Mandy Patient before he ended up in the fight with Mr Holden.

On the night he was fatally injured, Mr Holden was out with Ms Patient to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
