GRAYS High Street was jammed with fans on Wednesday (30 October) as their favourite television character came to town.
The Grays Town Partnership (GTP) organised the fun as Peppa Pig paraded for her fans.
Mums, dads and their little ones had the chance to meet and have photographs taken with the star – and Tiggy, the Thameside tiger – as well has having their faces painted and name-badges made in the two marquees set up in the High Street.
The event was the first organised by the partnership, – a group of local retailers, community representatives and council staff – and they are now busy planning for similar events in the future.
Partnership member, Mark Blanks, manager of Boots Plc said: “It was a brilliant event with at least a thousand people coming to town to see Peppa.
“It was great for the partnership to bring some new life into the heart of the town and show that when we pull together, we can make Grays a really fun place.”
He said: “This was the first step on a long journey for the town. We’re determined that Grays is going to be a bright, prosperous place to be in the future and we now have a good number of people who are willing to put the effort in to make that happen.”
