Police warn against Stanford-le-Hope vigilantes

POLICE have urged for caution after reports of possible abductions and assaults in Stanford-le-Hope have been the subject of fevered social media speculation.

Police state that notices posted on social networking sites about potential white van men following teenagers in the Stanford-le-Hope area should be treated with caution.

Officers are investigating a handful of reports during the past few days about historic sightings of a white van but without much detail. At no stage has any teenager the subject of any attempted grab.

Enquiries are underway to substantiate any of the claims and obtain further information on the occupants of the vehicles. In the meantime, neighbourhood policing officers would urge people to contact them with information rather than attempt to take any action themselves.

Essex Police have told YT that they have received a report of an incident in the Gardners Ave area of Stanford-le-Hope. The alleged assault on a 15-year-old male is said to have occurred at approximately 7pm on Wednesday November 6th. The male in question has yet to be available to the police for a statement.
