THURROCK Swimming Club’s National Youth Swimmer, Harry Geggus braved the clippers on Friday 8th November at Blackshots Leisure Centre, the home of Thurrock Swimming Club, in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
As well as his swimming talents, Harry is well known for loving his well groomed locks, so to decide to have them ALL shaved off was highly commendable for the borough youngster.
To a packed poolside Harry’s sister Tillie Geggus, gave an emotional speech on the reasons for Harry’s fundraising quest. Not a dry eye was left on poolside, including Tillie, after she completed her speech. Tillie should be congratulated also on her act of courage to read out such a highly emotional piece.
Unfortunately, Alan Mitchell, Head Coach of Thurrock Swimming Club, sadly lost his battle to cancer on in the early hours of the morning on Monday 11th November. He will be sorely missed by Thurrock Swimming Club.
So far Harry has raised over £800 doubling his predicted target of £400. Harry continues to raise funds for this cause and his Just Giving Fundraising page is at http://www.justgiving.com/Harry-Geggus1 for anyone wishing to donate to this extremely worthy cause.
