A MAN has died after falling from the QEII bridge this morning.
Police were called just before 3.30am following reports a man had fallen from the bridge.
Essex police later found a body on the shore-line.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The bridge was closed for half an hour.
Two of the lanes remained closed while Essex Police recovered a car believed to belong to the man, but the bridge fully reopened at about 7am.
Officers are trying to locate the man’s family.
Its terrible that this local landmark is becoming known as the suicide bridge. At this rate it will on par with Beachy Head.
The Samaritans should put some contact posters up.
Time for higher fencing (i.e 8 feet tall) and netting as this is becoming a more and more frequent occurrence. Perhaps the bridge operators can put some of their profits towards this?
